Kawarau Gorge

Kawarau Gorge stood in as The Argonath in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

The Kawarau River canyon east of Queenstown where the Fellowship passes the Pillars of the Kings. The pillars were miniatures and CGI; the river bend is the visitable stand — jet boat tours run the gorge.
