Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 30, 2026. This policy describes how Framepin (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use framepin.co and related services.

Who we are

Framepin is a map-first community for exploring real-world filming locations and sharing then-and-now photos. Questions about this policy: [email protected].

Information we collect

Account data. If you sign in, we store your email address, profile details you provide (display name, username, bio, optional social links), and an avatar if you upload one. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth.

Content you submit. Visit photos, captions, scene and location suggestions, comments, likes, saves, and reports. Uploaded photos are processed on our servers to strip EXIF metadata (including GPS) before they are published.

Usage data. We collect standard web logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) and coarse location derived from your IP when our host provides it (for example, country or city — never precise GPS unless you explicitly grant it elsewhere).

Contact form. If you write to us through the contact page, we receive your name, email address, chosen subject, and message so we can reply.

Cookies. We use cookies to remember your language preference, theme (light/dark), and signed-in session. See “Cookies” below.

How we use information

We use your information to operate Framepin, including:

  • Displaying locations, titles, community posts, and your profile
  • Moderating submissions and responding to copyright or abuse reports
  • Securing the service and preventing abuse (including rate limits on uploads)
  • Understanding aggregate usage through privacy-friendly analytics
  • Responding to messages you send through the contact form

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

Framepin relies on service providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
  • Mapbox — interactive maps on Explore
  • Google Maps Platform — Street View embeds on location/scene pages and geocoding for the submit flow
  • The Movie Database (TMDB) — title metadata, posters, and backdrops under TMDB's API terms
  • Vercel — hosting and privacy-friendly analytics
  • Resend — delivery of contact-form emails

Each provider has its own privacy policy. TMDB content is used under their API terms; Framepin is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Cookies

Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your language and theme. You can clear cookies in your browser; some features may not work without them. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Retention

We keep account and content data while your account is active. If you delete content or your account, we remove or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records for legal compliance, moderation, or backup integrity.

Your choices and rights

You can update your profile in account settings, delete posts you authored, and sign out at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact [email protected] to exercise these rights.

Children

Framepin is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using Framepin, you understand your information may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data-protection laws.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
